Crochet Creations Information

Ensuring the longevity of your cherished items is crucial as it extends their lifespan. For clothing items, we highly recommend hand washing and laying them flat to dry. Nevertheless, most of our pieces are machine washable, and specific care instructions are provided below.

For crochet items, it's advisable to wash them separately in the washing machine or avoid washing them with items prone to bleeding or snagging the yarn. Use the gentlest washing setting available for these delicate creations.

Blankets are also machine washable, and the same care guidelines apply to them. As for shags, please always opt for spot cleaning or hand washing to maintain their unique texture and appearance. Your care will ensure that your beloved items stay beautiful and functional for years to come.

Waistbeads

Waist beads are a traditional type of body adornment that are worn around the waist. They consist of small beads, usually made of glass, ceramic, or semi-precious stones, threaded onto a string or wire. Waist beads are commonly worn in various African cultures, as well as in some parts of the African diaspora.

The beads are typically worn as a form of personal adornment and can be seen as a fashion accessory, a symbol of femininity, or as a way to enhance the waistline. They come in different colors, patterns, and designs, and can be customized according to personal preferences.

Waist beads hold cultural and symbolic significance in different African communities. They can serve as a form of body decoration for special occasions, such as weddings or festivals, or be worn as everyday attire. In some cultures, waist beads are believed to have spiritual or protective qualities. They may be associated with fertility, sensuality, or a rite of passage from childhood to womanhood.

Furthermore, waist beads can also be used as a way to monitor changes in body size or weight. As they rest on the waist, they can serve as a subtle indication of weight gain or loss when they become tighter or looser.

Overall, waist beads are a beautiful and culturally significant accessory that has been worn for generations, holding different meanings and purposes depending on the cultural context in which they are used.

Traditional tie-on handcrafted waist beads are a type of body jewelry that is strung on a double thread without a clasp. They are specifically designed to be tied around the waist, often serving as adornments or symbols of femininity, spirituality, or cultural significance.

Unlike waist beads with clasps or closures, the traditional tie-on style allows for adjustability and a customizable fit. The double thread provides durability and security, ensuring that the waist beads stay in place once tied.

To wear traditional tie-on waist beads, you would typically wrap the strand around your waist, aligning it comfortably where you desire it to sit. Then, you can tie a knot or multiple knots to secure the beads in place. The excess thread can be trimmed, or the remaining ends can be left to dangle as decorative elements.

These handcrafted waist beads come in various colors, patterns, and bead sizes, allowing for personalization and individual expression. They can be worn discreetly under clothing or showcased as a fashion statement, depending on personal preference.

Overall, traditional tie-on handcrafted waist beads offer a unique and versatile way to accessorize and celebrate body adornment traditions.
