Beaded Jewelry

What is Made to Order?
"Made to order" means that each piece is crafted specifically for you after you place your order! The great news is that your personalized piece ships within just 2-7 days. 💕

Why Choose Made to Order?
As a small-batch jewelry brand, I create designs on a made-to-order basis, but they're only available for a limited time. This thoughtful approach to production has many advantages:

Customized Attention: Each item is made with care and precision just for you.
Sustainability: It helps reduce waste by only creating what's needed.
Exclusive Availability: Limited-time offers ensure your jewelry remains unique.

Our Pricing Range:
Our pieces are priced between $15 and $150, reflecting various factors.

Material Costs:
The cost includes all elements that go into crafting each piece, such as packaging, beads, findings, strings, ear wires, and other components. I prioritize using high-quality materials to ensure each product meets our high standards.

Craftsmanship and Time:
Each piece is a labor of love, requiring significant time and skill. Creating a pair of earrings can take anywhere from 1.3 to 3.5 hours, not including additional tasks like packaging, photographing, listing, and designing. I value my time and effort, and fair compensation is crucial to sustain this craftsmanship.

Commitment to Quality:
My goal is to provide you with a high-quality product. Therefore, I will not undervalue my work. Proper pricing ensures that I can continue to invest my time and resources into creating beautiful, unique pieces. (And I encourage all artists to value their work just as highly!)

Gratitude for Your Support:
I deeply appreciate every purchase and supporter of my business. I strive to offer a variety of sizes and price points to make our jewelry accessible to everyone. I understand the value of your hard-earned money and am committed to offering pieces that are worth every penny.

One-of-a-kind" signifies that each piece in this collection is completely unique and will not be recreated for future sales. When you own a piece from this collection, you have a truly singular item that won’t be duplicated. Your jewelry is as unique as you are, with no identical counterparts.

To ensure your beaded jewelry remains beautiful and lasts a long time, proper care is essential. Here are some tips to help you keep your pieces in excellent condition:

1. Keep Dry: Avoid exposing your beaded jewelry to water. Remove them before showering or swimming to prevent damage.

2. Avoid Sun Exposure: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause the colors of the beads to fade. Store your jewelry in a shaded or covered area when not in use.

3. Minimize Contact with Chemicals: Lotions, perfumes, and other beauty products often contain chemicals that can harm the beads. Apply these products before putting on your Le Cinq Août jewelry to protect it.

4. Proper Storage: Store your beaded jewelry separately from other accessories to prevent tangling and scratching. Laying them flat and using the original earring card can help maintain their shape until you wear them again.

5. Maintain Brass Components: Over time, brass parts of your jewelry may tarnish or dull. This is normal and can be easily cleaned with a polishing cloth designed for metals. Some people enjoy the patina of aged brass, so whether to polish is up to you.

6. Secure Your Earrings: Use small silicone backings on ear wire earrings to prevent them from slipping out, especially when wearing items like sweaters or scarves that might catch on them. We want you to enjoy your earrings without worry of losing them!

Taking these simple steps will help ensure your beaded jewelry continues to shine and bring joy for years to come.

Tarnish is a natural discoloration that occurs on the surface of metals like silver, silver-plated metal, brass, and others. It happens when these metals react with sulfur compounds in the air. While tarnishing is inevitable, you can easily restore the metal to its original shine.

How to Restore Tarnished Metal:

If your earring findings or metal components have tarnished or discolored, you can restore their appearance with a polishing cloth:

1. Gently Rub: Use the cloth to softly rub the tarnished areas.

2. *Repeat as Necessary:** Continue rubbing until the metal regains its shine.

Remember, tarnish is normal and does not reflect the quality of the metal.

### Note:

- Polishing cloths are included with orders that have silver earring findings or silver/brass components.
- If you lose your polishing cloth, they are widely available for purchase.

To keep your beaded jewelry in the best condition, please avoid the following:

1. Avoid Water Exposure: Do not wear your earrings in the shower or while swimming, as water can damage them.

2. Improper Storage: Do not store your earrings carelessly. To preserve the integrity of your fringe earrings, hang them by their hooks or lay them flat and neatly.

3. Sunlight Exposure: Keep your jewelry out of direct sunlight for extended periods to prevent bead discoloration.

4. Damp or Hot Storage: Do not store your jewelry in humid or hot places. A dry, cool environment is best to maintain their condition.

Additional Tip for Fringe Earrings:

If your fringe doesn't hang as smoothly as you'd like, place your earrings on a cotton fabric. Gently roll the beads downward with your finger. Repeat this process as needed to achieve your desired look.

DO NOT store any of your jewelry where there is moisture, like the bathroom!

Crochet Creations Information

Ensuring the longevity of your cherished items is crucial as it extends their lifespan. For clothing items, we highly recommend hand washing and laying them flat to dry. Nevertheless, most of our pieces are machine washable, and specific care instructions are provided below.

For crochet items, it's advisable to wash them separately in the washing machine or avoid washing them with items prone to bleeding or snagging the yarn. Use the gentlest washing setting available for these delicate creations.

Blankets are also machine washable, and the same care guidelines apply to them. As for shags, please always opt for spot cleaning or hand washing to maintain their unique texture and appearance. Your care will ensure that your beloved items stay beautiful and functional for years to come.

Waistbeads

Waist beads are a traditional type of body adornment that are worn around the waist. They consist of small beads, usually made of glass, ceramic, or semi-precious stones, threaded onto a string or wire. Waist beads are commonly worn in various African cultures, as well as in some parts of the African diaspora.

The beads are typically worn as a form of personal adornment and can be seen as a fashion accessory, a symbol of femininity, or as a way to enhance the waistline. They come in different colors, patterns, and designs, and can be customized according to personal preferences.

Waist beads hold cultural and symbolic significance in different African communities. They can serve as a form of body decoration for special occasions, such as weddings or festivals, or be worn as everyday attire. In some cultures, waist beads are believed to have spiritual or protective qualities. They may be associated with fertility, sensuality, or a rite of passage from childhood to womanhood.

Furthermore, waist beads can also be used as a way to monitor changes in body size or weight. As they rest on the waist, they can serve as a subtle indication of weight gain or loss when they become tighter or looser.

Overall, waist beads are a beautiful and culturally significant accessory that has been worn for generations, holding different meanings and purposes depending on the cultural context in which they are used.

Traditional tie-on handcrafted waist beads are a type of body jewelry that is strung on a double thread without a clasp. They are specifically designed to be tied around the waist, often serving as adornments or symbols of femininity, spirituality, or cultural significance.

Unlike waist beads with clasps or closures, the traditional tie-on style allows for adjustability and a customizable fit. The double thread provides durability and security, ensuring that the waist beads stay in place once tied.

To wear traditional tie-on waist beads, you would typically wrap the strand around your waist, aligning it comfortably where you desire it to sit. Then, you can tie a knot or multiple knots to secure the beads in place. The excess thread can be trimmed, or the remaining ends can be left to dangle as decorative elements.

These handcrafted waist beads come in various colors, patterns, and bead sizes, allowing for personalization and individual expression. They can be worn discreetly under clothing or showcased as a fashion statement, depending on personal preference.

Overall, traditional tie-on handcrafted waist beads offer a unique and versatile way to accessorize and celebrate body adornment traditions.
